Johnny`s Mexican Restaurant in San Antonio

First time here. I had the jalisco burrito plate, which is $4 more than just the burrito and includes rice, beans, lettuce & tomato, sourcream and guacamole. Food, service and prices were good.

Best Mexican food on the North east side

It was pretty good, big portions and pretty tasty, unbeatable prices!

When we walked in nobody greeted us they were all chatting and giggling at the kitchen entrance so we seated ourselves ( most all the tables were dirty anyhow) . When our waitress finally came over we got menus and placed our drink order but never were even offered chips and salsa. After placing our order I started looking around there was food all over the floor and dried spots where you could tell they spilled stuff and never cleaned it up but when the food arrived it got worse we had flies buzzing around us ( maybe it was just the same fly who knows but still it was gross) not even the taste of the food made up for the service or the cleanliness my taco salad was so soggy I didn't eat the shell . While eating a couple of military gentleman came in and were served chips, salsa , and queso so I assume we were treated horribly on purpose !! Won't be going back!!!!

The only place I’ve been to where it’s actual authentic Mexican food. Not that Texmex stuff that I was tired of. The People here are very friendly and were very helpful when I asked about different plates on the menu. Will be coming back

Breakfast tacos are inexpensive and delicious.They’re green sauce is fantastic.They’re street tacos with al pastor are some of the best around Fort Sam and priced great. Recommended to dozens of people and everyone has said they’ve loved it.

Food was really good and we are pretty picky on Mexican food. Drinks were outrageously priced since they were served in cans, but food was moderately inexpensive so it balanced a little. Would totally go back if travels bring us this way again~

We go there alot. Mini tacos are awesome and so is all their breakfast. The waitresses are all cool except this one thin gal who doesnt provide good customer service.

Love this place. They give you small queso and chips salsa . Affordable. I’ve had mini Asada tacos, cheese enchiladas, charro beans and tortillas are so good!

Hands down the best Mexican food I have ever eaten!

The food is excellent and authentic. Next time we are in the area we will stop in again. Service was quick and waitress very nice.

When I had a Region 20 professional development near by, we ate here for lunch. While this wasn't the BEST Mexican food in San Antonio, it was definitely good. Their prices were inexpensive and the restaurant was cozy, which I loved. It's between a Creole restaurant and Bill Miller's, neither of which I enjoy. If you're a picky eater like me, this is the place for you.

This was a great dine in place, walking distance from the Best Western hotel was great breakfast, & service. Another Hidden Gem in SA nxt time i will most likely come again

Best Mexican food and the super best staff. Love the service and beautiful waitress.

Food was ok, nothing special. Just your plain Mexican style food. Come with those set expectations and a low price and you'll have a decent meal.

Holy Smokes! My fiance is really picky about Mexican food and she gives this place 20 stars. We will definitely go back the next time we're in San Antonio.

Yesterday my boyfriend went to get breakfast and he forgot his wallet there, he didn’t know he left it there until tonight, someone tried to use his card and was denied with apple, he went back to the restaurant and asked if they had it and sure enough they had it with them, they denied trying to use the card and social that was in there, this is wrong for them to do something like that lucky we didn’t call the cops on them

Good food, good sized portions. More "authentic" than some of the downtown restaurants. Great service. While I'm staying here it's going to be one of my favorite places.

Food was great, the atmosphere was even better. Big portions decent prices, cooks singing loudly from the kitchen, felt like we were south of the border. If I ever make it back to San Antonio it will be my first stop.

A great family restaurant. It's conveniently located near I-35, has very attentive staff, and great food. I had the Steak tampiquena the last time I went. The available seating was decent and the prices were good as well.

I wonder who is the owner of this location i just want to let them know this was the worst experience first we waited there for couple of minutes so the lady that wear glasses could help us out because she was to busy singing that she didn't want to help second she took me some corn tortillas and she threw them like all mad the other girl she was so helpful she was really kind not sure what was her name but i just wish they can get more people like her she a really nice person

Visited this restaurant on a whim as it was late one night. Convenient location to Fort Sam and the staff was very nice and attentive. Food was good and portions were large. Only reason it's a 4 star is they were playing some very loud music in the kitchen (probably for clean up tasks) which was a bit annoying while trying to eat. Would visit again for sure!

Great food good prices, the service is different day n night. Night staff curtious and attentive. Day service leaves something to be desired. Waitresses tend to ignore customers. Do yourself a favor come at night.

Great Mexican food very affordable compared to other places in town

The food was absolutely amazing and the amount you got for the price you pay is phenomenal. I went in with a party of 6 people and they were so accommodating and quick. The waitress was great at taking care of us and everyone ordered different plates and there were no issues. Everyone enjoyed their food and the cheese and salsa they brought out before the food. I would definitely recommend this place and go back!

The best tortilla soup ever! Stopped in for breakfast tacos, all delicious choices and quick service. Grabbed a “bowl” of soup to go for lunch and it’s HUGE! You get a lot more for your money here. Stop in for a quick bite if you’re in the area. You won’t regret it.

The horchata and sweet tea wasn't that great, but the food was DELICIOUS! We would definitely come back to eat there.

Walked in and everyone is cleaning. That's a good sign off the bat. Food came quick and hot. Mexican often times comes coldish. Chicken enchilada was good. The shell on the crispy taco was the best I have ever had. Pleasantly surprised. Also, everyone is smiling and I was greeted at the door.

Seriously awful service aside from me waiting forever for my food, while waiting for my food I saw a older customer who was waiting in line as they was trying to social distancing because this place has no Drive thru the employees were blatantly ignoring them. When they expressed their concerns server laughed at them saying “that’s just how things are”. Wow that’s pathetic, this is an elderly person in our community! Such a shame with pathetic manners lack or empathy I’m not surprised they are under New Management Again. Tacos were good but the service sucks.

Just came to this place for lunch while traveling; there were 5 of us. Service was good - environment was okay however paying 7.48 for a side of lettuce and tomato with guacamole and sour cream is completely unacceptable; you can get a full meal with meat cheaper than that there. Spoke to the manager there and it’s just the way it is... unacceptable!
